Library Use Policy
The Trustees of the Dyer Memorial Library have adopted the following policy for all patrons using the facilities. This policy was drawn in the interest of responsible stewardship to protect the collections entrusted to us. We are pleased to have patrons using the facilities and feel these rules will aIlow many more to enjoy the use of the books and artifacts in comfort and safety for years to come.

Please sign-in at the front desk and check in with a staff member upon arrival at the Dyer.

Coat stands are provided in the entry vestibule (groups will be advised by a statf member).

Bags, briefcases, and pocketbooks are not permitted in the research and exhibit areas. They may be left by the reception desk. However, staff members are not responsible for their safekeeping. For security, we advise that you leave them in your car.

Pencils, loose paper, notebooks, and personal computers may be used in the library; use of pens is prohibited.

Please do not bring books into the library without prior clearance from a staff member. Books that enter the library unannounced must stay in the library.

A self-service copy machine is available; copies are 10¢ per page, payable to any staff member. Photocopies are for personal use only. Making photocopies of materials does not constitute or imply permission to publish.

The Marietta Dyer Room, the Sam Dyer Room, the Murphy Room, the downstairs stacks, and the computer room are accessible at all times.

Materials in the upstairs stacks and exhibit rooms are accessible with staff assistance.

Two computers are available for public use. Please sign-in for computer use at the Front Desk if you wish to use one. Due to increasing demand of computer time, each Researcher is limited to a maximum time of two (2) hours per day. Time may be extended if no other Researcher is waiting.

Wireless Internet and Research Tables with Electrical Outlets – For those wishing to use laptop computers, outlets are located underneath many of the reading room tables. The Dyer Library offers free wireless internet access however the signal is spotty in certain parts of the building.. Please ask a staff member for instructions to log onto the Dyer network.
The Dyer Library Staff reserves the right to search any and all personal belongings upon entry and departure of the library.
