The Dyer Memorial Library & Archives is temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

DML&A staff members are in the building and are available to remotely assist you with your research.
Please don't hesitate to reach out for assistance.

We can’t wait to welcome you back to 28 Centre Ave. to explore our collections and attend programs!
There are many factors involved in creating a safe environment for staff and visitors. We are taking the
time to consider all of the aspects and our teams are working on a phased reopening approach that
puts the safety of our staff and visitors first. While the Dyer will remain closed to the public into 2021,
our staff is hard at work providing reference services.

We are grateful to our community for their patience and support during this fluid situation and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to our building when we are able.

Are you new to Genealogy?

What is the history of your House?

What events were held during the week-long 1912 Bicentennial celebration of Old Abington?

We can help you answer these questions, and more!

The Dyer is here to help you start your journey of discovery about your ancestors, the people who lived in your home, and both exciting and day-to-day events that occurred for the people who lived in the towns of Abington, Rockland and Whitman, Massachusetts, who up until 1874, were all a part of the Town of Abington.

The Dyer Memorial Library is a unique and valuable resource for the three communities and one of the premier local history and genealogy research libraries in the Massachusetts South Shore.

The library has a vast collection of materials and experienced staff who provide services to a full range of patrons, from children to senior citizens and from beginners to experienced researchers.

To support these efforts, the library has gathered an extensive collection of manuscripts, books, archival materials, and artifacts. These resources continually grow through library purchases and donations from appreciative genealogists and historians and history enthusiasts like YOU!
